Commonly known as the Jabatan Akauntan Negara Malaysia (JANM) in Malay term.Accountant General’s Department of Malaysia was established in 1946, before the independence of Malaysia, with the creation of the post of Accountant General under the Ministry of Finance, which was first held by Mr. G.G.T Browne. The post was first time filled by a Malaysian in 1967.

The headquarter of Accountant General’s Department of Malaysia is located in Precinct 2, Putrajaya. It has states and districts offices around Malaysia to provide accounting services to the public sector.
